Irving, TX (August 2, 2013) - HOTELS Magazine, a leading publication of hotel industry news, has released their 30th annual "HOTELS' 325" report featuring the world's biggest hotel companies. The report appears in the July/August issue and Pillar Hotels & Resorts is listed as the 55th largest hotel company, ranked among other management companies and well-known international hotel chains.
"We are honored that HOTELS magazine has featured Pillar in its annual ranking edition," said Rick Frank, Chief Investment Officer for Pillar. "To be included in the top quarter of our industry on a global scale is an accomplishment that affirms our successful track record and continued growth."
The companies listed are ranked according to number of hotel rooms, and Pillar had approximately 20,548 rooms under management in 2012. The top 10 spots closely mirror last years' rankings, with InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott, Wyndham, and Choice Hotels rounding out the top five. This year, Choice Hotels moved into the number 5 spot, pushing Accor to number 6. There was also a significant increase in China-based companies expanding beyond home turf.
In addition to making the top quarter of HOTELS' 325 biggest hotel companies in the world, Pillar was also included in HOTELS' ranking of the Top 50 Hotel Companies based on number of properties.
Data for these reports was gathered through an online survey completed by hotel company contacts, as well as public records, previous years' data, industry sources, and independent research.
