This fall, our Pillar hotel teams have been busy giving back to their communities at every opportunity. Some of the organizations they were involved with include American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Children's Miracle Network Hospital, the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society. Our teams also come together during the holidays to provide meals and necessities for those in need. We are very grateful for their time and thoughtfulness throughout the year, and would like to take this opportunity to share some of their efforts with you.
During Hilton Global Week of Service, October 19-25, our Homewood Suites Grapevine team donated bed linens to GRACE (Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange), a nonprofit agency that provides food, clothing, financial assistance and other vital necessities to people who are struggling with a limited income of recent emergency. Our Hiltons of Branson teams volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club of the Ozarks, a nonprofit youth development organization dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging, positive self-esteem and accomplishment in children. Our Hampton & Homewood Chandler, AZ teams participated in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. In addition, our Hampton Inn Rancho Cordova and Hampton Inn King of Prussia took a hands-on approach, making fleece scarves and blankets to distribute to homeless shelters and children's hospitals.
Each year, many of our hotels get involved with Habitat for Humanity, helping to build homes and transform lives across the nation. Recently, a handful of our Marriott teams donated their time to this great cause. Our employees give back through local volunteer efforts, youth programs and various group projects. For more information on volunteer and donation opportunities, please visit Habitat.org and join the fight against poverty housing and homelessness around the world.
This holiday season, many of our teams collaborated for American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes, a program that sends cards of thanks and support to members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families. With many service members separated from their families during the holidays due to deployment and hospital stays, Holiday Mail for Heroes empowers people to "Give Something That Means Something." Together our teams collected over 500 cards to send to soldiers. Our Holiday Inn Charleston - Mount Pleasant team also held a Military Appreciation Reception featuring an appearance by Scrappy, the USS Yorktown Mascot.
